Launch event European Social Innovation Competition 2019

The European Social Innovation Competition promotes and supports social innovation in Europe. On 28 February 2019, we will launch the seventh edition of the competition by announcing the theme of this year and officially opening the competition to entries.

Each year, the European Social Innovation Competition++European Social Innovation CompetitionThe European Social Innovation Competition is an initiative of the DG Growth of the European Commission, and is organised by Nesta, Kennisland, Ashoka, ENoLL and Scholz & Friends. The competition promotes and supports social innovation in Europe and provides a platform for leading European innovators to support new initiatives, help them develop further and to learn from each other. Read this post about last year’s winners. offers four prizes of € 50,000 each for the best ideas to tackle a social problem faced by communities across Europe. The launch event will kick off the competition by showcasing social innovation projects in Ljubljana and act as a forum to discuss the major issues around this year’s chosen topic. We’re bringing together Europe’s brightest innovators, entrepreneurs and policymakers for an afternoon of networking and talks on social innovation in Europe and Ljubljana in particular.

Join us at the event to hear from previous Competition winners sharing their experience and from experts discussing the solutions we’re looking for this year. We’ll explore how Ljubljana became the first zero-waste capital in Europe and the attendees will participate in group activities brainstorming possible solutions to the problem that the 2019 Competition will try to tackle! The event will end with the ‘Toasted Furniture’ art exhibition by Nuša Jelenec and Nina Mršnik during the reception.Join us at the event to hear from previous Competition winners sharing their experience and from experts discussing the solutions we’re looking for this year.
