Do you want to learn about knowledge co-production and making policy together with citizens? Are you in need of practical examples to start working on complex social issues that seem to be stuck? Kennisland is helping you out by organising a weeklong social lab tour from June 27 – July 2!
Kennisland has a strong track record when it comes to working on social innovation. We organised a variety of innovation safaris, national and international challenges++ChallengesFor example, read more about the European Social Innovation Competition or the Hivos Learning Community., and explore working on social issues through social innovation labs. Social labs are hyped worldwide and are known for putting user-centered design central to the practice of policy making. In multidisciplinary teams, civil servants, policy makers, researchers, artists, social workers and citizens work together on finding out what improvements are needed in cities or neighbourhoods, while simultaneously prototyping possible solutions.
Kennisland has developed its own social lab approach, the Feed Forward Stories methodology, to arrive at more inclusive relationships between citizens and the state, with new and better outcomes on the ground. In Feed Forward Stories, working on social issues starts by the stories of people on the streets, in parks or at school. What are their dreams? What enables and disables them to thrive? Often, citizens and the state both have the same good intentions; they want to make things better for themselves, their neighbours and their country. By sharing stories, we see however that their realities are disconnected from each other – making it hard to realise those positive aspirations.
How can we connect the stories in our neighbourhoods and cities and start new, innovative and social practices? During the social lab tour, Kennisland will take you through the Feed Forward Stories methodology step by step During the social lab tour, Kennisland will take you through the Feed Forward Stories methodology step by step, by means of workshops and field visits to the various social labs we have set up in the Netherlands. We will visit projects in Amsterdam, Dordrecht and Rotterdam and speak to citizens, partners and commissioners, in order to get a full understanding of what it means to run a social lab.
After this week you will have gathered knowledge and skills with regards to collecting stories, the ethics involved, identifying the most urgent problems, generating ideas, prototyping and insights on how stakeholders can adopt the prototypes in order to create sustainable change.
