In Verbinding – Kennisprogramma Innovatieve Cultuuruitingen
Een gesprek over kunst in verbinding met de samenleving.
Gesprek. De gesubsidieerde cultuursector is in 2011 in zwaar weer beland met grote bezuinigingen en een scherpe omslag in het cultuurbeleid. Dat is voorlopig nog niet overgewaaid. Hoe is dat zo gekomen? Waar staan we nu? Wat zijn mogelijke perspectieven? Meer dan ooit lijkt het van belang om het gesprek daarover fundamenteel te voeren en een pas op de plaats te maken. Hoe kunnen we in dat gesprek het individuele belang van instellingen overstijgen? Hoe komen we tot een discours? In Verbinding wil daar een bijdrage aan leveren. Het zet een zevental perspectieven naast elkaar, samen met een gespreksontwerp om het gesprek verder te voeren. Dat is het eerste luik.
Conversation. The subsidised cultural sector faced turbulent times in 2011 with severe cutbacks and a radical change to cultural policy. It isn’t over yet. How did we get to this point? Where do we stand now? What are the prospects for the future? Now more than ever, there is a need to have a fundamental conversation on these issues, to take stock of the situation. How can we rise above the interests of individual institutions in this conversation? How do we arrive at a discourse? In Connection seeks to make a contribution here. It sets out seven perspectives, together with a conversation format for continuing the conversation. This is Part One of this publication.
Verhalen over projecten zeggen meer over hoe het verder moet dan instellingen en dan beleid. In de levende praktijk van innovatieve projecten worden nieuwe en andere manieren van werken zichtbaar. Wat is het hart van deze verhalen? Hoe zet dit door in de organisatie, in nieuwe partnerschappen, naar betrokken publiek en het versterken van het businessplan? In het tweede luik wordt een aantal van deze praktijkverhalen uitgelicht. Deze verhalen verdienen het om verteld te worden en verder verspreid. En nodigen uit om meer verhalen aan toe te voegen.
Kennis organiseren maakt het drieluik compleet. Verandering en vernieuwing dienen zich in het realiseren van projecten aan. Maar zonder reflectie op de praktijk wordt de beweging niet bestendig. Hoe kan kennis ‘maken’ en kennis ‘delen’ in de cultuursector meer systematisch geïntegreerd worden in maakprocessen? In Verbinding wil daar aan bijdragen door acht ontwerpprincipes van kennis organiseren uit te lichten: een handreiking om mee verder te gaan in nieuwe vormen en variaties. In Verbinding is een boekje om te lezen, maar ook een boekje om te (blijven) doen.
In Verbinding is de slotpublicatie van het Kennisprogramma Innovatieve Cultuuruitingen dat de subsidieregeling Innovatieve Cultuuruitingen (2009-2010) begeleidde. De uitvoering van het Kennisprogramma (2010-2011) lag bij Kennisland, de Baak en Mediamatic. Het Kennisprogramma werd mogelijk gemaakt door het ministerie van OCW.

More so than institutions or policy, stories about projects tell us about how we should proceed. The real-life practice of innovative projects reveals new and different ways of working. What is at the heart of these stories? How is this reflected in our organisation, in new partnerships, vis-à-vis our audience and the consolidation of our business plans? Part Two highlights some of these practical stories. They are stories that deserve to be told and passed on, and they invite the addition of yet more stories.
Organising knowledge completes this book. Change and innovation present themselves through implementing projects. But the momentum cannot be sustained without reflection on practice. How can ‘making’ and ‘sharing’ knowledge in the cultural sector be more systematically integrated into the processes of ‘doing’? In Connection seeks to make a contribution by highlighting eight design principles for organising knowledge. It is a guide for forging ahead with new forms and variations. In Connection is more than just to book to be read; it is a book about ‘doing’, and about continuing to ‘do’.
In Connection is the final publication of the ‘Innovations in Cultural Expressions’ Knowledge Programme that accompanied the Innovation in Cultural Expressions grant scheme (2009-2010). The Knowledge Programme (2010-2011) was implemented by Kennisland, De Baak and Mediamatic. The Knowledge Programme was made possible by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
