Introducing: the KL Advisory Board
The KL Advisory Board consists of people who have earned their spurs in one or more of the themes in which Kennisland is active. We have added six people to our new Advisory Board, which now consists of ten members. They keep us on our toes, are ambassadors of our thinking and share their networks with us. We are proud of our AB, which is why we would like to introduce the members to you.

The KL Advisory Board members stand out for their clear vision of current and future developments in society and the role KL could play in it. They keep us focused on inclusion, diversity, participation and impact. They also ensure a solid connection with companies, knowledge institutions and civil society organisations.
Chair of the Supervisory Board is Marc Vermeulen, professor of strategy for non-profit organisations at the TIAS School for Business & Society of Tilburg University. His previous positions include director of IVA Policy Research and professor/director of the Ruud de Moor Centre at the Open University. He combines his (applied) scientific work with supervisory and advisory work in the public and non-profit sectorsLiza is passionate about academic research and teaching on pressing political questions about representation, diversity, intersectionality, gender equality, social security and transnationalism..
Valerie Frissen is director of the SIDN Fund and Special Professor of Digital Technology and Social Change at Leiden University. She is active nationally and internationally at the intersection of media, technology, innovation and creativity.
Tofik Dibi is an administrative advisor in Amsterdam Nieuw-West and activist writer, known for the autobiographical book Djinn and theatre production Milk & Dates. Before, he worked for six years in the House of Representatives of the Dutch Parliament for the political party GroenLinks.
Liesbeth Bijvoet is business director of the Jewish Cultural Quarter. Under her responsibility are the Jewish Museum, the Portuguese Synagogue, the Hollandsche Schouwburg and the Holocaust Museum. She made the transition from the sustainability sector to the cultural sector and has gained extensive experience in both the profit and non-profit sectors.
Elijah Alvares is sector administrator of FNV Young & United and secretary of the National Network Diversity & Inclusion of the political party PvdA. He is also project leader Student Affairs at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Liza Mügge is associate professor of political science and co-theme leader of the ‘Diverse Europe’ group of the Amsterdam Center for European Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Liza is passionate about academic research and teaching on pressing political questions about representation, diversity, intersectionality, gender equality, social security and transnationalism. She is co-founder of the European Journal of Politics & Gender.
Benito Walker is vice president of the National Youth Council with a special focus on youth participation. He is a member of the SER Youth Platform and chairman of Bureau Burgerberaad (citizens’ council). He strives for a liveable world for young people and future generations.Benito strives for a liveable world for young people and future generations. With this in mind, he co-founded Youth for Climate.
Mei Li Vos is parliamentary leader for the Labour Party (PvdA) in the Senate of the Dutch Parliament. She has known Kennisland since its foundation in the late nineties. At the time, Mei Li worked as a researcher for the think tank Infodrome, which researched the role of information technology for the government.
Ruben Nieuwenhuis is a social entrepreneur and initiator of Techgrounds, Farmers for Neighbours, Dutch Edtech and CupolaXS (a tech campus in a former dome prison in Haarlem). He is also the former director of StartupAmsterdam and author of StartupCity.
Rudy van Belkom is director of Stichting Toekomstbeeld der Techniek (STT) and speaks and writes about the impact of technology on our society. According to him, the question is not which future we will have, but which future we want. He researches the impact of technology on the future of democracy on behalf of STT.
